This calculator is used to find the ephemeris for a minor planet at, or near, its next opposition. To return results for 0hr UT, check the zero hour option. Tolerance is used to determine the lower and upper bounds (default=0.25) to search around 180° i.e.(Δ = |λSun - λAsteroid| ≈ 180.0° ±Tolerance). Frequency defines the Julian Date time increment for each iteration. The default is 0.125 (3 hours). It is possible to narrow the tolerance so much that it never arrives at a solution. The default settings produce results most efficiently. The application halts computations after 1000 iterations. Geographic location is useful only for determining the positions of the Sun, Moon and Object results.
